Scholar Athlete Criteria

Criteria for Scholar All-America Awards
  • TEAM AWARDS
    • The team must have a GPA of 3.0 or better (or the equivalent converted) on a 4.00 scale for the semester
      • Schools on a semester system will qualify using either the Fall or Winter/Spring semester
      • Schools on a quarter system will qualify using either the 1st or 2nd quarter
      • Schools on a trimester will qualify using the 2nd trimester.
  • INDIVIDUAL AWARDS
    • A student‐athlete must be academically eligible under the NCAA rules and must have completed at least the equivalent of 12 semester hours per term enrolled at the current institution to be eligible.
    • A student‐athlete must have qualified for or achieved a minimal time standard outlined below:
      • First Team Status: Qualify to participate at the NCAA, NAIA, or JC Swimming and Diving Championships
      • Honorable Mention: Achieved the equivalent of a "B" time standard for the NCAA Championship as indicated on the official entry
      • Relay participants must have actually qualified or be listed on the NCAA POP or entry form (no alternates are permitted)
    • A student‐athlete must meet one of the following criteria’s to be eligible:
      • A cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better (or the equivalent converted) on a 4.00 scale
      • A semester/quarter GPA of 3.5 or better (or the equivalent converted) on a 4.00 scale
      • A school year GPA of 3.5 or better (or the equivalent converted) on a 4.00 scale
Coaches must submit a separate entry for each swimmer
